A New Day

Welcome to the Jeff Gordon Fan Forum. Yes, it is on a different server-- this is expansion in more ways than one. I'd like to think that I've been running the website long enough where I know what the audience wants. When I first put a forum on the site late in 1998, I probably should have expected what the outcome would be. Back then there was no registration. Considering it was at the height of the "anti-Gordon" sentiment, there were more than a few days where the forum looked a lot like Main Street in downtown Baghdad. Over the years the forum has had an interesting ride. I used to have more free time which allowed me to post fairly often. But those days are in the rear view mirror. The former version of the board was going along quite nicely.. or so I thought. It wasn't until the Sk8erboi mentioned that it needed an upgrade did I really look at the options. And those options were vast.

The new forum allows the users to better express their personality when they post. In addition, it's more organized than the former "free for all" type of forum. The categories should suit those who want racing 24/7, and those who want to venture off the topic every now and then.

Special thanks to Tom Jubb for downloading and helping with the script. Tom spent a full Saturday setting the board up and I am greatly appreciative of his efforts. Also, thanks to the people who helped test it... Jacob, Courtney, and Aaron. The kids are alright.

The strange thing about having a popular website is the expectation. As the years have gone by, expectations have obviously risen. Every year I've tried to improve on the previous year. But I am interested in what the users have to say. I'm not a mind reader, that's for sure. Just ask Heather. After nine years, I realize that a forum really does add a different dimension to the website. If you enjoy it, let me know. That's the only way to improve upon what is.

It's no secret that my attitude toward life is heavily influenced by the tropical climates. While I can't take everyone on a trip down to that One Particular Harbor, the "tiki bar" theme is probably the next best thing to help kick things off. In the words of John Hiatt, "Thank God the tiki bar is open."
